I watched the State of the Union a day after it aired (couldn’t bring myself to stay up until 2am on a Tuesday) and though there was a lot of election-year politics, I liked the parts best when all members of congress stood up and cheered.  It’s great to see even a brief hint at unity from American politicians.

barackobama:

If you missed the president’s State of the Union last night, here’s what we’re internally referring to as “the kick-ass section.” Watch the rest of the speech and get an overview of the key points here.

The title of this site reminds me of the Fuck Hate campaign. I find it midly amusing when people use negatives to explain positives. I guess they figure they’re more likely to get the opposition to read something that is ironic. Regardless, this site is more helpful than any of Obama’s press conferences, YouTube videos and tweets at explaining exactly what he’s been up to in the Oval Office.

I just spent far too much time going through the White House flicker stream.  While there are a lot of photos of Obama and heads of state or sitting looking pensive, there are also some really great ones like this of the family dog eating off the table. It’s an interesting peek into the life of the first family.
