Give me flour
Lovely food blog I’ve just discovered.
Lovely food blog I’ve just discovered.
I love discovering new blogs, especially when they are on the subject of food. This one not only boots good recipes but also interesting site design. Tonight I’m testing one of Nicky’s recipes, ricotta gnocchi which she claims can be made quicker than it takes a pot of water to boil! Let’s hope so as I am FAMISHED after a 14 turned into 16 mile run today with Phil.
Nom nom nom - 495 pages of Christmasy goodness. A must read collaboration by blogger What Katie Ate that takes you from New York to Dublin to London and Sydney.
This e-zine holds an amazing roundup of online gift ideas for the holidays. It’s probably one of the best compilations I’ve seen yet from all of the many blogs I read. Flip through for some inspiration and unique ideas!
101 Cookbooks
I recently discovered this food blog which is different from my normal reads in that the recipes use au naturale ingredients. At first I was intimidated by this notion thinking I would need to buy out Whole Foods to make any single dish, but after reading through them I found au contraire, many used accessible ingredients and were simple to make. The first test: ginger poached noodles for dinner last night. Simple, light, zingy dish. This morning: peanut butter cookies sans sugar, eggs or butter. Chewy, rich, addictive cookies. The best part about these recipes is I feel a little better about what I’m eating even when it’s dessert - though that’s no excuse for the fourth cookie I ate before noon. I have no self restraint.
In an attempt to make myself less google-able I’ve changed the URL to www.stackrice.tumblr.com. The origin is from my lovely friend’s game of combining Phil and my last names. Was that last bit grammatically correct? Phil and myself’s? Me and Phil?
Taken from @cahi11 this site made me swoon. What I would give to be able to draw like some of these people.
The reason why posts have increased by 500% in the last week or so is because:
I am trying to organize my days a little better without much luck today. I woke up at 9AM, had breakfast, checked for jobs, applied for a few, made some tea, took a picture of my cat drinking the tea (post 1 of today), read some my book (yesterday’s last post), fell asleep for 15 minutes while reading my book, woke up, ate some cheese on crackers, looked through wedding photos for the 34,304,403 time (which turned into post 2 of today), looked at jobs again, sighed, contemplated going for a run, paid a parking ticket, realised the pathetic amount of work accomplished today, started writing post 3 of today.
Anyways, I contemplated for a while what the theme of this blog will be as I like to keep it focused or it turns into ramblings of boring things that no one cares about. It started as a place for my creative writing course. That ended, and though I had big ambitions to keep writing, my notebook has already started collecting cobwebs. The majority of posts are about my cat, but I feel that though to me he is an endless source of amusement and entertainment, other people might feel different. Like ‘I don’t care about your cat that looks the same as every other cat on God’s green earth’ (which is how I feel when people put up pictures of their dog). Then I thought maybe about living in England, which I suppose is kind of unique and not an opportunity everyone has. So that’s where I am going to start. Little stories of my [married] life here. Thus the inspiration for the next post: how the H did I end up here?
